Pipe Flocculator, Chemical Coagulation and Flocculation

The FlocXpress Pipe Flocculator is a type of plug-flow reactor coagulation / flocculation system consisting of a long serpentine pipe with a specific length and diameter. The term ” plug-flow ” refers to the constant retention time and mixing energy at any given cross section of the pipe. As such, all particles are subjected to the same amount of mixing and time. This results in a highly uniform floc with excellent separation characteristics.

The standard package for the FlocXpress Pipe Flocculator is delivered with fittings for chemical dosing-coagulant (PAC/FeCl3), polymer, sampling drain valve, pH with sensor, and an optional milky-water injection port. Mixing energy and reaction energy in the static mixer unit and pipe are a result of generated turbulence. For this reason, a flocculant is dosed after the coagulant and pH is completed. Floc growth takes place in the pipe after second static mixer unit with polymer dosing. All this combined creates a uniform, ideal floc formed for the separation of floc and water in the DAF tank.
